J.S. Bach, St John Passion

First performed almost 300 years ago the story of the St. John Passion is a fascinating testament to the relationship between text, music and meaning. Seen as an indication of Johann Sebastian Bach’s own core beliefs and didactic commentary upon the Gospel of John. The devotional nature of this piece and occasion fuse together into a celebration of choral music.

The Brisbane Chamber Choir accompanied by renowned orchestral players in order to journey the audience through the story of Christ. Evangelised by Australian tenor Mattias Lower while interspersed with solo arias interpreted by members of the choir.
