The opening event of the Brisbane Chamber Choir's twenty-nineteen season is sure to be exciting for choral lovers throughout the city. In a combined celebration of death and glory the concert pairs Antonio Vivaldi's most famous choral work of the Gloria with Gabriel Fauré's ever stunning and entrenched core of choral singing the Requiem.

Join Ensemble Q for an exquisite afternoon of music in the graceful old Brookfield Memorial Hall. The program includes Mozart's Clarinet Quintet, Schoenberg's romantic Verklarte Nacht for string sextet, In Paradisum by Erik Esenvalds for cello, viola and the Brisbane Chamber Choir, and a virtuoso duo for clarinet and double bass, by Bottesini. With other performers include Paul Dean, Trish O'Brien, Harry Bennetts, Tobias Breider and Phoebe Russell.
The afternoon includes refreshments and the opportunity to meet the artists.

Three choral organisations, two conductors, two organists and one fabulous afternoon of choral splendour.
This concert, as part of the Brisbane Contemporary Church Music Festival is presented by the St Peters Chorale (Kathryn Morton), the Brisbane Chamber Choir and the Combined Cathedral Choirs (Graeme Morton) with organists Philip Gearing and Andrej Kouznetsov in a program including music by Boughen, Esenvalds, Finzi, Orlovich and Vasks, and featuring Malcolm Archer's Requiem.

As well as exploring biblical elements, the libretto surveys hope, suffering, death, resurrection and redemption, the hallmarks of the human condition and has universal appeal. Stephen Layton has a deep affinity with Handel’s music, and will bring his own interpretation to the work to Brisbane. Together with the Brisbane Chamber Choir, the quartet of rising stars and established vocal soloists promises superb singing and a thrilling and memorable evening.
The soloists include, Sara Macliver (Soprano), Helen Charlston (Mezzo-soprano), Gwilym Bowen (Tenor) and Laurence Williams (Bass-baritone).
